Places
The whole world is made of places — rooms you can stand in, look around, and leave. Some are homes people have made. Some are worlds built to be explored. Getting somewhere new means traveling there.
Wander a living world of connected places, claim one as your own, and see what others have built. No downloads. No rules but the ones you discover.
This is how it says hello — the real thing greets you just like this.
The System is a world you explore by typing. You read where you are, look around, and travel from place to place — meeting people, solving puzzles, and building a corner of your own. And every place is really there.
Picture a huge, living world made of connected places. You start with a home of your own — a private spot that's yours to keep and shape. From there you head out, discover places other people have made, and see what's inside.
There's no map handed to you and no story on rails. You look around, spot somewhere new, and go. Each place leads to more places, and the further you wander, the more there is to find.
And here's the wild part — none of it is pretend. Every place you visit is a real machine, running somewhere out there in the world, that you're genuinely connected to. You're not looking at a painting of a place. You're really standing in it.
The big idea
“What if the world you explored wasn't drawn — but real?”
You play with plain words
No buttons to memorize, no menus to hunt through. You type what you want to do, in everyday words — and help is always a word away.
Getting around is simple: you land at home, see what's nearby, and travel to whatever catches your eye. Each place opens onto more — so there's always somewhere further to go.
You step in and land at your home — a place of your own, waiting for you to make it yours.
You glance around and see the places nearby. Some are other people's homes. Some are worlds waiting to be explored. Some you weren't expecting.
You pick a place and go. No loading, no waiting — one moment you're home, the next you're somewhere entirely new.
Every world has its own things to find and secrets to uncover, and each one leads to more. The deeper you go, the more there is.
> and it just keeps going.
Under the hood, for the curious: each place is its own real machine, kept apart from the others so your home stays safely yours. Everything worth keeping is saved off to the side — so a world can never truly be lost, even if the machine running it goes away.
You don't need a manual. Six simple ideas are the whole game — get these and you'll feel right at home anywhere you wander.
The whole world is made of places — rooms you can stand in, look around, and leave. Some are homes people have made. Some are worlds built to be explored. Getting somewhere new means traveling there.
You get a home of your own — a private space that stays yours. Fill it, shape it, make it yours. Log off and come back; it's exactly where you left it.
A world is a place someone built for others to explore — a story, a puzzle, an adventure. You wander in, meet whoever else is there, and see what they made.
Nothing is handed to you. You look around, spot the places nearby, and travel to whatever catches your eye. The deeper you go, the more there is to find.
Everything you make and carry is kept safe for you, tucked away somewhere solid. Even if the machine running a world blinks out, the world — and your things — live on.
Your home is walled off and truly yours — no one gets in uninvited. Out in the wider world, though, other people are exploring too. Not every place is friendly, and that's half the thrill.
Why it feels different
This isn't a picture of a world painted to look real. Every place you visit is an actual machine, running somewhere out there. That's the magic — and once you feel it, you can't unfeel it.
Each world is its own separate space. What happens in one doesn't spill into another, and your home stays your home no matter where you wander.
Anyone can make a place for others to explore — a story, a puzzle, a corner of the world that's yours. Share it, and people come to see what you dreamed up.
Places wake up when people arrive and rest when everyone's gone. Show up, and the world is there, ready and waiting.
Everything worth keeping is saved somewhere safe. A world can never truly vanish — it's always there when you come back.
There's always another layer. One place leads to another, and some doors only open once you've found your way. The exploring never really ends.
Here's a little piece of The System you can play with right now, right in your browser. Type look to see where you are, or scan to spot what's nearby — then follow your curiosity. This is exactly how the real thing feels.
good to know: this is a small taste of The System, running just in your browser. The real thing connects you to actual places out in the world. Tip: press ↑ / ↓ to repeat what you typed, or Ctrl-L to clear the screen.
Here's your whole starter kit. You type these words to get around and see what's happening. Forget one? Just type help — it's always there.

exitHead back
Leaves where you are and starts you on the way back home.
Start with just look and scan — that's enough to begin exploring. The rest you'll pick up naturally as you go. And if you're the tinkering type, there's a lot more hiding under the surface for you to find.
You can explore and make a home today. Next comes building your own worlds, exploring together with crowds of people, and one big world all linked up. And somewhere far down the line, there's something we'd rather let you find for yourself.
Claim a home of your own, look around for nearby places, and travel between them. The heart of the game already works.
Simple tools so anyone can create a place — a story, a puzzle, an adventure — and share it for others to discover.
Crowds of people in the same world at once, meeting, teaming up, and getting in each other's way — the good kind.
Thousands of places, all linked into a single living world you can wander for as long as you like. Down the road, maybe even a release on Steam.
There's a rumor that if you go deep enough, you find where it all begins — and that someone could take it, and rule the whole thing. We're not saying it's true. We're not saying it isn't.
The things people ask most before they start. Still wondering about something? The whole project is out in the open on GitHub.
Not at all. You play by typing simple words like look and go, and there's always help right there if you forget one. You'll learn as you go, just by poking around. Here's the honest bit: the more curious you are, the more the world opens up for you. Tinkerers are rewarded — but everyone's welcome, and everyone starts the same way.
You explore. You look around, travel to places other people have built, figure out what you find there, and make your own home into somewhere worth visiting. If you catch the bug, you can build a place of your own for others to stumble into.
Yes, and that's the best part. Most games show you a made-up world. Here, every place you visit is a real machine, running somewhere out in the world, that you're actually connected to. You're not looking at a picture of a place. You're really there.
Your home is walled off and truly yours — no one gets in without an invite, and everything you keep there is saved safely, even if you close the game. Out in the wider world it's a different story: other people are exploring too, and not every place is friendly. That little bit of danger is part of the fun.
The System is still being built, and it's free to get in early while we do. Joining the waitlist costs nothing. What happens further down the road (maybe even a spot on Steam) we're still figuring out.
